Voters may yet send a Romney to Washington this November- voters in Utah at least. According to Salt Lake City’s Deseret Morning News, Josh Romney, son of former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, may seek a run for Utah’s 2nd Congressional District.
After spending most of the last year on the campaign trail for his father’s presidential bid, the younger Romney has been approached to run against Democrat Rep. Jim Matheson this fall. “I haven’t ruled it out,” said the 32 year-old Romney who currently resides in Millcreek, located in the Salt Lake valley. Romney hopes to capitalize on his father’s popularity in the Beehive State. “I’m pretty young, but I’ve had good experience on the campaign trail.”
Romney noted that while he was considering his options for the Congressional bid, he had no plans to campaign for John McCain. “It’s one thing to campaign for my dad, someone whose principals I line up with almost entirely. I can’t say the same thing for Sen. McCain.”
Josh Romney is married and the father of three. Like his father he is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
