British Prime Minister Gordon Brown stated his continued support for George W. Bush and the Coalition’s war on terror this week as he made his second visit to the US since becoming Britain’s Head of Government last year.
“The world owes President George Bush a huge debt of gratitude for leading the world (in the war on terror),” said Brown. “No international partnership has served the world better than our (US and UK) special relationship… the bond between our two countries is stronger than ever… We will continue to work together with the strengthening efforts we are making… with Iraq and Afghanistan.”
With regard to Iran’s nuclear program President Bush said, “Gordon Brown seriously sees the threat, as do I, and now it’s time to confront the threat.” The two leaders vowed to increase pressure on Iran to give up its nuclear ambitions, including stepping up sanctions against the Middle East state in concert with other European nations.
At this time of the new ‘big lie,’ in which the idea of pulling coalition forces out of Iraq will somehow usher in a new era of world peace, its nice to know that both British and American policy makers are not biting. Instead, both Bush and Brown are committed to protecting the free world despite what Al Qaeda or far left elements at home may contend.
